Three people were attacked on a Tube train leaving one of the victims with a broken ankle.
The British Transport Police said another suffered bruising to the brain during the incident on the Metropolitan Line in February.
Police say three people were travelling from Amersham in Buckinghamshire to Harrow-on-the Hill station at 12.30am on Sunday February 13 when they heard a man arguing with a woman he was with.
The trio are said to have looked at the pair prompting the man to respond "aggressively" before punching and kicking one of the passengers.
The woman is then said to have got involved with police saying a "sustained attack" has taken place on all three victims causing serious injuries.
Detectives are investigating the assault and have now released CCTV images in connection with it.
Officers believe the two people in the images may have information which could help their investigation.
Anyone who recognises the people pictured or who witnessed the assault is asked to contact the British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 33 of 13/02/22.
