A boarded-up office that owners hope to convert into flats has sparked safety concerns.

Shannon House, at Station Road in Kings Langley, had hoardings in place when it was put up for sale.

Then in 2020, numerous planning applications were submitted to convert the site into housing.

But recent heavy winds have blown some of the hoardings down, leaving the front of the building open.

One concerned person, who prefers not to be named, called the current site an “eyesore” and said having the loose panels is “dangerous”.

According to Three Rivers District Council, there have been “no reports of squatters” at the building since it became more accessible.

A spokesperson said: “Any concerns that a building has been broken into or that people are squatting within it should be reported to Hertfordshire Police.

“If residents are concerned over the safety of the site - this should be reported to Hertfordshire Building Control.”

Since Shannon House was sold for £3,450,000, proposed changes to use some of the building as 28 residential units were approved, but further applications to make 74 and 64 units were refused.
