St Albans Road in North Watford has fully reopened ahead of schedule.

The busy road was partially shut on Monday (April 11) because of work being carried out by Affinity Water.

The water supplier says it was planned work taking place which related to water connections at a property in the street.

Rather than install temporary traffic lights and disrupt traffic in both directions in St Albans Road, the road was shut in one direction - towards Garston - between Leavesden Road and Lowestoft Road.

Engineers dug into the ground and protected the site with barriers but the road surface has since been reinstated.

Hertfordshire County Council granted Affinity Water a permit of until today (April 15) to complete the work and get the road back open.

Photos taken yesterday by Watford resident Stephen Danzig show that repairs were completed by the end of Thursday and the road was open again in both directions ahead of the Easter bank holiday.
