Firefighters had to rescue people trapped in their vehicles after two separate crashes overnight.

The first happened at 2.10am (April 17) when a vehicle crashed on a motorway slip road near Bricket Wood.

Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue says the vehicle was travelling from junction 6A on the M1 towards junction 21 for the M25 when it crashed.

A fire crew from Hemel Hempstead had to attend to free an unconfirmed number of people stuck inside the stricken vehicle.

There were no reports of any other vehicles involved.

Exactly two hours after the emergency call came in on the slip road, another came in from Chorleywood.

The fire service says a vehicle crashed in Common Lane and those travelling in it were trapped.

Crews from Rickmansworth and Watford attended and helped free the occupants before carrying out first aid.

The severity of any injuries sustained in either of the crashes is unknown at this time.
