Motorists may find their journeys disrupted from next month due to a number of planned road closures for roadworks.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details its intention to temporarily shut roads in areas including Bushey Heath, Croxley Green and Northwood while the works are carried out.

All temporary closure orders, if made, are valid for up to 18 months, but the dates when the restrictions will be in place will be shown on signs at or near the relevant roads.

Tree works are scheduled to lead to the closure of Little Green Lane, Croxley Green, from its junction with Sarratt Road eastwards, south-westwards, north-eastwards, south-eastwards and north-eastwards for a distance of 2028m.

This order, if made, will take effect from May 9.

Sandy Lane, Northwood, is due to be closed from a point 270m south-east of its junction with A4125 Watford Road south-eastwards for a distance of 30m.

This order is due to come into force on May 10 and is needed for water service connection works.

Also from May 10, an order is scheduled to take effect for the temporary closure of Sarratt Lane, Loudwater, from a point 75m south-east of its junction with Trout Rise south-eastwards for a distance of 50m, again for water service connection works.

The A411 Elstree Road, Bushey Heath, is set to be shut from its junction with Titian Avenue north-eastwards to its junction with the Clay Lane, a distance of 282m, for the replacement of utility poles.

This order is due to come into effect from May 12.

An order is scheduled to come into force on May 13 that will authorise the closure of the following roads in Sarratt for utility service works:

  • Bucks Hill from its junction with Sarratt public bridleway No. 057 southwards and south-eastwards for a distance of 900m.
  • Quickmoor Lane / Commonwood from its junction with Bucks Hill south-westwards to its junction with Plough Lane, a distance of 1156m.
  • Red Lion Lane from its junction with Plough Lane south-westwards to its junction with The Green, a distance of 470m.
