A boy has appeared in court after he brought a knife into school.

The youngster snuck a blade of more than three inches into Falconer School in Bushey – which caters for boys with behavioural and mental health difficulties.

The pupil, who cannot be named for legal reasons, brought it in on March 8.

Court papers describe it as “a folding pocket knife which had a blade the cutting edge of which exceeded 7.62 centimetres or three inches”.

He appeared at West and Central Herts Youth Court last week where he pleaded guilty to having the knife.

The schoolboy was referred to the South Hertfordshire youth offender panel for six months where he must attend meetings.

A collection order was made for £85 costs and a £22 victim services surcharge, and the folding pocket knife was also confiscated.

The school has been contacted for comment.

It caters for boys aged between 11 and 16 and received a ‘good’ Ofsted rating after its latest 2020 inspection.
