Children demonstrated “high levels of independence” and “great confidence” in a recent visit by Ofsted inspectors.

The school watchdog hailed Longwood Nursery, Bushey Hall Drive, after an inspection on March 16.

In the report published on April 25, the centre was declared ‘good’ as children of all ages “arrive happily” to learn.

The report reads: “They [children] are greeted by enthusiastic staff before rushing to explore the exciting activities and resources available in their rooms.”

Specifically, inspectors noted how children were encouraged to have independent exploration and they had “strong relationships” with the staff.

Claire May, the headteacher at Longwood, said: “I am very proud of the longstanding family of staff at Longwood School and Nursery, continuing to provide excellent care and education; now in our thirty-second year.”

She added that she was pleased the inspector recognised the “enthusiastic, caring and knowledgeable” staff.
