Artwork by students in a subway in Garston has been defaced leaving a local councillor "really disappointed".

Earlier this year, pupils from Parmiter's and St Michael's Catholic High School displayed their work in the underpass that runs under the A405 by Horseshoe Lane.

It was an initiative run by the schools and supported and funded by county councillors Tim Williams and Stephen Cavinder as part of wider refurbishment work for the subway.

But Cllr Cavinder was unhappy to discover some of the frames explaining where the art had come from had been drawn over. Stickers were also put over some of the art frames which have left markings.

He said: "Having given local students the opportunity of displaying their incredible artwork, it’s really disappointing to see some of the frames have been defaced.

"These have been cleaned up now but I’m sure residents will find this outrageous. Please, if you see this happening again then report it.

"The minority who do this kind of thing must not spoil it for the majority who enjoy looking at the artwork as they’re walking through the subway."
