The thunderstorms that swept across our area last night may have kept you awake, but they also delivered some spectacular pictures.

The BBC reported more than 20,000 lightning strikes were recorded as storms swept across Southern and Eastern England.

And some of the flashes across the night sky were captured by Watford Observer camera club members Angela Scott and Colin Parkins.
