It comes after two attempted burglaries on one day in Watford earlier this month led to police warning people to be vigilant.

One involved two men forcing open a front door in Chilcott Road before being confronted by the occupants.

The suspects failed to get into the property before fleeing in a vehicle.

The same day a man jumped over a garden fence in Woodmere Avenue before unsuccessfully trying to force open the door.

Herts Police urged residents to ensure downstairs windows and doors are secured, valuables aren’t left visible and gates, sheds and garages are locked.
