Traffic was stopped on the M25 near Watford for well over an hour due to a "police-led incident" this evening (June 2).

National Highways said traffic was halted at just before 9pm on the anticlockwise carriageway between junctions 19 and 18.

It is currently unclear what has happened but at least three police cars were reportedly spotted.

According to Google Maps there were 40-minute delays on the stretch with heavy congestion spilling over past The Grove hotel towards the A41 roundabout.

It appears there may have been two crashes, according to Google Maps, with one on the M25 carriageway and another on the approach to junction 19.
