Hello there, my name is Smithy, and I am a gorgeous two-year-old former racing greyhound. I came to the National Animal Welfare Trust a couple of months ago when I wasn’t winning enough races for my owner and am now looking for my forever home.

I’m a calm boy who just loves attention. I always like to have someone with me for companionship, so I’m looking for someone who is around a lot of the time.

I enjoy playing with my toys - squeaky toys and balls are my favourite - and I like to pick out my special soft toys and put them into my bed. I love my food and will do anything for a treat!

Watford Observer:

I’m looking for a family home with adults and teenagers who’ll respect my boundaries and give me the time and space I need to settle into my new home.

As an ex-racer, I must wear a muzzle and be kept on the lead for walkies as I have a high prey drive. But now my racing days are behind me, I’d love nothing more than cuddling up to my special human on a comfy couch.

Watford Observer:

When I come across other dogs at the NAWT, I do like to say hello to them so might be able to live with another dog of a similar size, as long as we meet first and get along, but I cannot live with cats. I’m looking for a home with a nice, secure garden for me to explore.

If you could offer me a loving home, email reception@nawt.org.uk or call 020 8950 0177 (option 2) to meet.
