Celebrities visited The Grove hotel this week for a round of golf and to raise money for a children’s cancer charity.
TV presenter Vernon Kay led the charge on the course on the outskirts of Watford and he was joined on the green by five-year-old brain cancer patient Dottie.
Vernon, a father-of-two, said: “I’m so happy to be here to support Children with Cancer UK, and meeting Dottie.
“Her story is heartbreaking, but it’s amazing to see how happy she is and how she’s not letting her brain tumour stop her. She really is such an inspiration.”
Vernon was joined on Tuesday by retired jockey Tony ‘AP’ McCoy, Crystal Palace footballer Jeff Schlupp, former Love Island winner Nathan Massey, former England international David Bentley and ex-footballer and pundit Lee Dixon.
Over the day, 18 teams of four competed, each team led by a celebrity.
The golf was followed by a charity auction with all proceeds going to Children with Cancer UK.
The charity’s chief executive Jo Elvin said: “Hosting a day like our celebrity golf tournament is a successful way to raise much-needed funds, but in a setting that gives our wonderful donors a great day out too as a heartfelt thank you."
Jo added: “I'm particularly grateful to Dottie and her parents for taking the time to be with us.”
