Watford's ring road was left temporarily blocked because of a crash.

Two cars collided at the junction with Lower High Street yesterday afternoon (June 8).

Emergency services were called at around 4.30pm to reports of a crash between a VW Golf and a Mercedes E350.

Paramedics were sent to the scene along with fire crews from Watford and Garston.

Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue tweeted that one person had to be freed by firefighters, although their condition is not thought to be serious because police only reported slight injuries were sustained by those in the crash.

While emergency services were at the scene, ring road traffic was diverted down Lower High Street towards Bushey Arches.

Buses were also forced to divert.

Police say the road fully reopened at around 5.40pm and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances around the collision.
