A hostel for homeless people has received £20,000 to help open a computer suite.

One YMCA in Watford town centre says the donation by CAE Technology Services will give more than 150 residents of Charter House access to help boost their employment chances and independent living.

A further £10,000 has been given to buy tablets allowing support workers at One YMCA meet with residents outside of meeting rooms.

Richard Behan, chief corporate development officer at CAE Technology Services said: “To be a force for good and have the opportunity to work in partnership with One YMCA and impact people’s lives for the better is a positive step forward.”

Mark Turner, One YMCA chief operating officer, added; “This feels like one of the most valuable corporate partnership relationships we have developed so far and it goes so much further than just the amazing financial generosity and support.

“We really are sharing values and coming together to make a life changing and lifesaving difference across Hertfordshire.”
