Parts of some of the busiest roads in Watford and Bushey are among those set to be temporarily closed for roadworks.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details the extent of the closures and other restrictions that may be introduced until the works are completed.

All temporary closure orders, if made, are valid for up to 18 months and the works will only take place at times shown on signs at or near the relevant locations.

Motorists are set to be prevented from using Clarendon Road, Watford, from its junction with Woodford Road south-westwards and southwards for a distance of 97m.

This order, if made, will come into force on July 3 and is needed for window cleaning works.

The alternative route will be via Station Road, A412 St Albans Road, A411 Beechen Grove; or via Clarendon Road, St Johns Road and Woodford Road.

Utility service works are set to lead to the closure of A4178 Wiggenhall Road, Watford, from its junction with Thomas Sawyer Way south-westwards for a distance of 105m.

This order is due to take effect on July 4 and the alternative route will be via Thomas Sawyer Way, A411 (Dalton Way/Lower High Street), A4125 Eastbury Road and A4178 (Deacons Hill/Wiggenhall Road).

Another order due to come into force from July 4 will prohibit vehicles from using these lengths of road in Watford:

  • Greycaine Road from its westernmost junction with Bushey Mill Lane north-eastwards, south-eastwards and south-westwards for its entire length.
  • Rother Close from its junction with Severn Way south-westwards for its entire length.

Elsewhere on July 4, an order is due to take effect that will lead to the temporary closure of the following lengths of road in Bushey Heath for works:

  • A411 Elstree Road from its junction with the A409 Heathbourne Road roundabout north-westwards and south-westwards to its junction with A411 High Road, a distance of 1346m.
  • Montacute Road from its junction with A411 Elstree Road south-eastwards to its junction with Woodstock Road, a distance of 10m.
  • In addition the existing one-way traffic system on Clay Lane from its junction with A411 Elstree Road south-eastwards for a distance of 30m will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions while the works take place.
