Planning permission has been granted to turn a hotel into a children’s nursery.

The new educational facility in Bushey will cater for up to 90 children.

It will see the 11-bed Grove End hotel, on the corner of Bushey Hall Road and Aldenham Road, converted into a nursery, having been in its current use for around 50 years.

A decision by Hertsmere Borough Council to grant prior approval to change the use of the building was made this week.

The approval was despite locals complaining they would lose their “peace and quiet” and concerns about extra traffic.

Conditions ordered by the council to acknowledge these concerns include reducing the number of children the nursery takes in from 108 to 90, limiting the number of kids in the outdoor play area at any one time to 35, and installing a two-metre-high acoustic fence within the play area.

Double yellow lines are also set to be extended in Bushey Hall Road to restrict parking/waiting and a car park management plan also needs to be agreed.
