An autistic teenager has been left agitated after his e-scooter, which was gifted by Anthony Joshua, was stolen.

Freddie, 15, whose family did not wish to share his surname, has been heartbroken since he left his e-scooter outside Waved Downtown, in St Albans Road, to pick up some sweets.

He stopped by the shop with a friend at around 7.55pm on Monday (July 4) and said he left the device, which has a yellow Watford FC sticker on the front, after being instructed to by the shopkeeper.

Police say it was then seen being ridden off in the direction of Bradshaw Road by a white male wearing a black tracksuit.

His older sister, Kat, said the family is “very upset” after the former boxing world champion gifted the scooter to Freddie after he helped clean up at a free Easter party at Meriden Park on April 17.

The boxer, who organised the event with his friends under his foundation Clean Herts Community, was so thankful for Freddie’s help that he gave him the special present.

He previously said that the party was meant to help provide youngsters and families with a fun outlet to celebrate the holiday, as it offered food, an easter egg hunt, circuit, petting zoo, bouncy castles and other activities for everyone to enjoy.

Kat said: “I’m very disappointed that this happened in broad daylight.

“It seems if things are not bolted down, people will take them. Freddie couldn’t have been in the shop more than a couple of minutes.”

She said Freddie has been so upset that he did not attend his school and has been very anxious since.

His sister added that the theft has had a “detrimental effect” to him as he misses the once-in-a-lifetime present.

Kat fears that the device might have been sold off to someone already, but wishes to warn others to be vigilant.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said enquiries are continuing at this time and called on anyone with information to contact police.
