Damage at a Watford car park is thought have been caused by a driver who got locked inside.

Watford Borough Council shared photos on Facebook this morning of a broken fence at Gade Avenue car park in Cassiobury Park.

The council says the fence was near the exit to the car park. Locks were also reported to be cut on a day where temperatures remained extremely high well into the night.

Suspecting a driver who got locked in the car park was responsible for the damage, the council said in a post: “Signage at the park clearly states the car park is open from 7.45am to 10pm."

The council added: “Our park rangers can only stay for so long at the parks, before they have to close them up for the night. Damage like this cost time and money to fix.”
