Hello! My name is Axel and I’m a three-year-old Bull Mastiff cross. I came to the National Animal Welfare Trust from the pound six weeks ago very underweight but am now doing well and looking for my forever home.

I’m a bit nervous of new people and situations and can stare at people when I’m worried, but I just need time to suss out whether they can be trusted. I love spending time with the team here now I know them. We enjoy time together in the sensory garden where I can sniff to my heart’s content!

I’m better suited to living with older teenagers as I get worried by fast movements and loud noises. I’d like to live with a female dog, as male dogs worry me, but I love to play with my lady friends! I’m not a fan of cats so can’t live with one.

Watford Observer:

I’m a big boy and try to pull people when I want to go somewhere, so I’ll need an owner who’s strong enough to hold me and can help me work on my lead-walking using kind methods. I need to wear a muzzle when visiting the vet or meeting new people.

Watford Observer:

At the minute I’m unsure about being left on my own so I’ll need help gradually learning to be by myself.

If you can give Axel a good home after his sad start in life, email reception@nawt.org.uk or call 0208 950 0177 (option 2).
