The final deadline is looming for Watford residents to claim their £150 energy rebate.

As the cost of living continues to soar the borough council is urging eligible people to apply online before August 31.

It is the last chance to get the money before the council tax energy rebate scheme finishes.

Are you eligible for the rebate?

To qualify, your property must be:

  • In council tax band A to D on April 1, 2022. If you are unsure which band your home falls into you can check online here.
  • Your sole or main residence where you are liable for the council tax bill.

Those who do not qualify for the rebate may still be eligible for support via the discretionary council tax energy rebate scheme.

It is available to properties who fall under the following conditions:

  • Council tax Band A-D who moved to Watford since 1 April 2022
  • Band A-D and receiving Council Tax Support (CTS) on 1 April 2022
  • Band E with a disabled reduction and receiving CTS on 1 April 2022
  • Band E-H and receiving CTS on 1 April 2022

How do you get the money?

Residents paying for their council tax via direct debit will receive payment automatically to their bank account.

The rebate will be provided as a separate payment, rather than as part of their council tax bill.

Residents who do not pay by direct debit must complete an application form online at: https://www.watford.gov.uk/council-tax-information/150-council-tax-energy-rebate or call the customer services centre on 01923 278466.
