A busy road “riddled” with potholes has been resurfaced – but there is a warning that more work needs to be done.

North Watford county councillor Asif Khan says he is “really pleased” after repairs took place in Gammons Lane on Tuesday.

Cllr Khan said residents and drivers had been complaining about the “terrible” state of the road and grew “exasperated” himself waiting for Hertfordshire County Council to fix a date in the calendar to resurface the road.

Tired of waiting, the Labour member says he has committed £40,000 from a budget he has access to for highways projects, with the first stage of work being completed on the “most deteriorated” section by Callowland Recreation Ground.

But Cllr Khan has warned more needs to be done, describing the rest of the road as in a “poor state”.

He says the council has agreed to resurface the rest of Gammons Lane right up to Courtlands Drive but this is unlikely to take place until at least April 2023 at the earliest.
