Motorists may find their journeys disrupted due to the planned temporary closure of roads in Watford and surrounding areas for roadworks.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details plans to shut roads in Watford, Kings Langley and West Hyde.

All temporary closure orders are valid for up to 18 months and the restrictions will only apply at times shown on signs at or near the relevant locations.

An order is due to be made on September 12 for the temporary closure of a section of Otterspool Way, Watford/Berry Grove Lane, Bushey for bridge inspection works.

This will apply from the junction with Merchant Way north-westwards for a distance of 598m.

The diversion will be via Otterspool Way, Park Avenue, Bushey Mill Lane and Berry Grove Lane.

Also on September 12, an order is due to come into effect to prevent vehicles from using Leggatts Wood Avenue, Watford, from its junction with A412 St Albans Road north-westwards for a distance of 31m to allow electrical service connection works to be carried out.

The alternative route will be via St Albans Road, Longspring, Beechwood Rise, Hazel Tree Road and Leggatts Wood Avenue.

Elsewhere on September 12, the county council is intending to make an order to temporarily close Station Road, Kings Langley, from a point 239m south-east of its junction with Home Park Mill Link south-eastwards for a distance of 95m.

This is to allow scaffolding to be dismantled and drivers will be advised to use Station Road, Primrose Hill, Toms Lane, High Street, Bedmond Road, High Street, Gallows Hill Lane, Gallows Hill and Station Road instead.

Works to replace a telephone pole are set to lead to the temporary closure of Holywell Road, Watford, from its junction with Harwoods Road south-westwards to its junction with A4145 Hagden Lane, a distance of 376m.

This order is due to take effect from September 14 and the alternative route will be via Harwoods Road and A4145 (Vicarage Road/Hagden Lane).

Utility service works are set to shut a lengthy stretch of Coppermill Lane, West Hyde, from its junction with Old Uxbridge Road north-eastwards and south-eastwards for a distance of 1048m, except for access.

This order is set to come into force on September 15 and the diversion will be via Old Uxbridge Road, Chalfont Lane, A412 (Denham Way/North Orbital Road), Moorfield Road, Moorhall Road, Harvil Road, Church Hill, High Street, Park Lane and Coppermill Lane.
