Watford bank holiday train and Tube disruption from HS2

Engineering work to deliver the HS2 railway means fewer trains will be running via Watford Junction to and from London Euston.

There will also be no Tube trains running in our area with work lasting the whole August bank holiday (August 27 to 29).

On Saturday, London Northwestern Railway services via Watford look to be largely unaffected, although there may be fewer trains running and times could be amended.

The London Overground will be affected between Kilburn High Road and London Euston and this will last until the end of Monday.

From midday until 9pm on Sunday and all day on Monday, London Northwestern trains will run to an amended timetable between Euston and Milton Keynes.

There will be no Metropolitan Line services running between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Watford, as well as Chesham and Amersham, over the bank holiday.

Transport for London says rail replacement buses will be running instead, including via stations such as Croxley, Rickmansworth, Watford, and Chorleywood.

Network Rail says around 95 per cent of its network will be running normally, but with £90 million of worth taking place across the country, passengers are being asked to check before they travel.

Network Rail chief executive Andrew Haines said: “I’m pleased to say the vast majority of the railway will be open for business as usual this bank holiday, so passengers can rely on us to get them where they need to go as they make the most of their summers.

“Our teams will be delivering some upgrade works to improve future journeys for passengers, so we’re asking people to check before they travel and make sure their route isn’t affected.”
