Firefighters believe a fire started by a riverbank was started deliberately.
One crew from Watford Fire Station was sent to Croxley Common Moor, Blackmoor Lane after reports of the fire today, August 30.
According to Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, it was a small, smouldering fire which was quickly extinguished using buckets of water.
The service was called at 11.11am and the fire was extinguished by 11.34am.
While the fire was small and did not cause much damage, it still has sparked some worry as the cause is “believed to be deliberate”, a spokesperson explained.

On Sunday, the fire service was called to a fire in Cassiobury Park caused by a disposable barbecue.
A spokesperson warned that the grass is still “extremely dry” and the fire could have been easily prevented if a barbecue was not used.
Fire brigades across the country have been petitioning for a complete ban on the sale and use of disposable barbecues in the UK for this reason.
