Piles of unwanted goods are being dumped in the doorways of charity shops outside of opening hours.

Clothes, bags, and boxes were strewn across the entrance to Barnardo’s and Peace Hospice Care in Bushey Heath.

Barry Hyman, who lives locally, said a volunteer told him they cannot take the goods in because they do not know if an animal has come into contact with them after being left.

Mr Hyman said: “They said it was disgusting and that it happens to charity shops everywhere despite notices not to leave stuff outside.

“They added it is laziness and shamelessness of unpleasant people. Much of it happens on a Monday and may be the leftovers of car boot sales.”

He added that a shopkeeper also told him they had challenged two men who dumped a mattress, only to be verbally abused and told to “mind your own f****** business”.
