When a dumped suitcase with adult magazines was discovered and posted online, the social media reaction was inevitable.

A worse-for-wear purple case was found by the canal near Kings Langley, but the finder was given “a bit of a surprise” when they looked inside.

Within minutes of publishing a well-meaning post, confirming it had been left with “no judgement” by the Red Lion pub, many couldn’t resist tagging their mates and claiming it was theirs.

“Found ya stash mate”, one jibed, while another wrote “your suitcase has been recovered mate looks like nothing’s been taken”.

One Good Samaritan added: “Where is this, I’m going to clear this mess up and dispose of it for the good of the people”, while another posted a picture of It Wasn’t Me singer Shaggy.

Another tongue-in-cheek contributor wrote: “It’s my friend’s, he’s away at the moment so I’ll pop along and collect it, thanks so much.”

The post garnered more than 100 likes and dozens of comments.

Eventually the author, presumably tired of the notifications, opted to end to the mockery and turned off the comments.
