Part of one of Watford’s busiest roads is among numerous streets in the town and surrounding areas set to be temporarily closed for roadworks.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details plans to shut a section of St Albans Road along with roads in Bushey, Rickmansworth, Croxley Green, Abbots Langley and elsewhere.

All temporary closure orders are usually valid for up to 18 months and works will only take place at the times shown on signs at or near the relevant locations.

The A412 St Albans Road is due to be shut from its junction with Garston Lane north-eastwards and northwards for a distance of 250m, except for access.

This order, if made, is due to come into force on October 10 and is needed for water service connection works.

Another order due to come into force on the same day, this time valid for up to six months, will authorise the temporary closure of the following roads in Croxley Green for works:

  • Lancing Way from its junction with Malvern Way north-eastwards to its junction with Baldwins Lane, a distance of 277m.
  • Green Lane from its junction with The Green north-westwards, south-westwards and eastwards to its junction with Croxley Green public footpath No. 4, a distance of 189m.

Another order set to take effect on October 10 will prohibit vehicular traffic from using Bottom Lane, Sarratt, from its junction with Commonwood south-westwards for a distance of 49m due to gas service connection works.

School Lane, Bushey, is set to be shut from its junction with A411 Sparrows Herne south-westwards, south-eastwards and south-westwards to its junction with Merry Hill Road, a distance of 496m.

This order, if made, will come into force on October 10 and is required for works to be carried out.

Another order due to take effect on that date will authorise the temporary closure of these lengths of road:

  • Redwood Close, South Oxhey, from its junction with Northwick Road for its entire length.
  • The road fronting Nos. 33-54 On The Hill, Carpenders Park, from its junction with On The Hill for its entire length.
  • Penrose Avenue, Carpenders Park, from its junction with Greenfield Avenue north-eastwards, south-eastwards, south-westwards and north-westwards to its junction with Alva Way, a distance of 902m.
  • Alva Way, Carpenders Park, from its junction with Penrose Avenue north-westwards for a distance of 28m.
  • Grove Crescent, Croxley Green, from its westernmost junction with Baldwins Lane north-eastwards, south-eastwards and south-westwards for a distance of 507m.
  • Lovatts, Croxley Green, from its junction with Grove Crescent for its entire length.
  • The road fronting Nos. 27-37 Hamilton Road, South Oxhey, from its junction with Hamilton Road for its entire length.
  • Talbot Road, Rickmansworth, from its junction with High Street south-eastwards and south-westwards for a distance of 298m.
  • Martins Close, Chorleywood, from its junction with A404 Chenies Road for its entire length.
  • Hillborough Green, South Oxhey, from its junction with Ashburnham Drive for its entire length.
  • Crofters Road, Northwood, from its junction with Westbury Road south-eastwards to its junction with Woodfield Avenue, a distance of 382m.
  • Follett Drive, Abbots Langley, from its junction with Langley Lane for its entire length.
  • School Mead, Abbots Langley, from its junction with Hazelwood Lane south-eastwards and south-westwards to its junction with Gable Close, a distance of 142m.

These roads are due to be closed for works and this is another order due to take effect from October 10.

Utility service works are set to shut Berry Lane, Chorleywood, from a point 174m south-west of its junction with Common Lane south-westwards for a distance of 50m.

This order is due to come into force on October 10.

The following day an order is set to take effect prohibiting motorists from using Chandlers Lane, Chandlers Cross, from its junction with Toms Hill south-eastwards for a distance of 400m, except for access, for utility service works.

An order, if made, is set to take effect from October 12 authorising the closure of these lengths of road for works:

  • The Mead, Carpenders Park, from its westernmost junction with Foxleys north-eastwards for a distance of 200m.
  • Frankland Road, Croxley Green, from its junction with A412 Watford Road south-eastwards and south-westwards to its junction with Harvey Road, a distance of 601m.
