A crash happened on a dual carriageway heading out of Watford this morning.

It occcured just after the railway bridge on the A4008 Stephenson Way towards the M1.

Two vehicles appear to have been involved, blocking both lanes and the collision is thought to have happened at around 7.30am (September 23).

One vehicle looked to have been a Toyota Yaris that suffered substantial damage to its front and possibly collided with the central reservation.

The other car that is thought to be involved  - a Skoda - was parked next to it with its hazard lights on.

There is also debris on the road.

Police were at the scene and a spokesperson for Hertfordshire Constabulary said at 8am: "Police are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision in Stephenson Way, Watford, this morning (Friday 23 September).

"The road has been left blocked and people are asked to please avoid the area while recovery work takes place and an oil spill is cleared from the carriageway."

Some drivers were stuck in Stephenson Way with motorists urged to find another route until the road is cleared.

However, Google Maps now shows traffic running well suggesting the incident has been cleared.
