Vicarage Road will be resurfaced in late October, including outside the football stadium and hospital.

The work will take place at night between October 24 and November 2, with a road closure in place on weeknights between 8pm and 5am.

West Watford Labour county councillor Nigel Bell says Vicarage Road is in a “terrible state”.

He said: “At last, the much-needed and long-awaited resurfacing for the main stretch of Vicarage Road, which is in such a terrible state and I have been lobbying for along with residents, [is happening].”

Diversion signs will be in place.

Cllr Bell says he has told Hertfordshire County Council officers he does not want a repeat of earlier this year when sewer repairs in Vicarage Road caused “chaos” in neighbouring side streets.
