A father of a perfectly healthy schoolgirl who died with a rare cancer will be taking part in a half marathon years after her death.

Jessica Macqueen, a nine-year-old from Watford, died in 2019 just four months after her family found results for a lump on her foot.

Charlene Taylor, a mother of a boy in Jessica’s year group at Holy Rood Catholic Primary School, has announced that there will be a team of 13 runners taking part in a marathon to raise money for Jessica’s Arc, that will fund cancer research in her memory.

Her father Simon Macqueen will be part of the group competing in the Royal Parks half marathon in London on October 9.

There have been similar fundraisers since Jessica’s death, including when 23 parents managed to raise £10,273 in a 10k run through Cassiobury Park and Whippendell Woods.
