Emergency roadworks are causing longer delays than usual for some drivers travelling into Watford.
Work is taking place in Hempstead Road near the junction with Elizabeth Court by the water supplier Affinity Water.
It is causing delays in both directions, but more so into Watford, with queues all the way back past the Hunton Bridge roundabout and to the A41 at the Langleybury Lane junction.

Hertfordshire Highways has reported this morning that delays are around 20 minutes.

Similar work by Affinity Water is also taking place on the A41 North Western Avenue in the direction of the Dome Roundabout.
This is causing queues on the A41, while High Road and Aerodrome Way from Leavesden towards Watford are really slow.
Many other roads in Watford are busy as usual during the rush hour.
Elsewhere, traffic is heavier on all approaches into the roundabout where Elstree Road and Heathbourne Road meet between Bushey Heath and Elstree.
It's also having a knock-on effect on the A41 from the Esso petrol station roundabout to Elstree Road.
It’s not clear what is causing the queues but Google Maps indicates that roadworks are taking place in the area.

Meanwhile, drivers should be aware of at least two new sets of roadworks starting today in Watford.
The first is in Balmoral Road near the junction with Munden Grove for connection works by G2 energy. This will last until October 21 and is in addition to the G2 works already being carried out at the junction of Radlett Road and Bushey Mill Lane until October 18.
Temporary traffic lights will also be installed in Ridge Lane, at the junction with Deenwood Close, until November 18 due to work being carried out by Cadent Gas.
