Fans queued at one of Watford’s most popular former high street stores to meet one of Britain’s most-loved celebrities almost 20 years ago this month.
Late singer and entertainer Cilla Black visited Woolworths in Watford High Street on Friday, October 17, 2003 to promote her book What’s It All About? which charted her life and years in showbusiness from 1960’s pop star to presenter of TV shows including Blind Date and Surprise Surprise.
Looking ahead to her visit, store manager Andrew Aiston told the Watford Observer: "We are all very excited that Cilla is coming to our store. It's a huge boost for the staff to have such a famous name here and it is a terrific opportunity for fans to meet her and take away something very special.”
We’ve dipped into our archive to look back at the visit of the popular entertainer, who died in 2015, when she warmly greeted fans at the Watford shop.
