Piles of stinking rubbish and mattresses have been branded "a serious health hazard" after not being cleared from flats for a month.

Animals have reportedly been feasting at a bin store in Ovaltine Drive, Kings Langley, with recycling lorries reportedly missing collections despite several complaints.

Pictures show bin bags toppling over each other inside the store, with some ripped apart alongside other unbagged waste.

Despite a warning written on the wall stating “do not overfill the bins, they will get left”, the problem has continued to grow.

Calls to avoid dumping bulky items have also been ignored with mattresses and large boxes among the mess.

Outside more rubbish and dumped furniture have been pictured sprawled across pavement at what one resident has called a “fly-tipping site”.

Emma Comer of Thrive Homes, which owns the property, said: “Thrive Homes is aware of the situation with waste at Ovaltine Drive.

"Unfortunately, there was an error made with the collection address on a previous attempt, however we have resolved this and our team will be removing the rubbish as soon as possible today.”
