A set of traffic lights appear not to be working causing confusion among pedestrians and motorists.

In a video shared on Twitter, the green traffic light on the ring road at the junction between A411 and the High Street comes on but the amber and red do not.

The video was posted on Twitter today at 1.59pm.

Later, the video shows the green light flashing on and off quickly.

Dozens of people can be seen standing at the lights waiting to cross, but do not due to the apparent fault.

A bus could also be seen being affected.

While the person on the video has claimed the responsibility of the lights is with Watford Council, it is in fact under Hertfordshire County Council (HCC).

A HCC spokesperson said: “A faulty traffic light was reported to us on the A411 on the junction with Watford High Street just after 2pm today.

"This fault has been prioritised and teams on the ground will be attending today as soon as possible to resolve the issue.

"We would ask residents to be careful when crossing this road until the traffic light is fixed.

"The safety of residents is always our first priority and we encourage them to report faults as soon as they see them so that we can deal with them in a timely manner.”
