Watford's deputy mayor Aga Dychton cut the ribbon as Latin-inspired bar Barrio officially opened.

The launch event took place at 5pm today (Thursday, October 27) with confetti, free drinks and a live DJ present.

A variety of launch-exclusive tacos and cocktails were also available to guests.

A photo booth with props was also available for customers to use.

Watford's Barrio is the fifth bar in the chain, ran by the Nightcap group of bars.

Nightcap is owned by former Dragons' Den star Sarah Willingham.

On the opening, Cllr Aga Dychton said: "I think the bar will be a great addition to Watford!

"It's very colourful and it brings something different, a Latin American theme."

Barrio's managing director, Jim Robertson, gave an outline on what the bar will bring to Watford: "The bar is Mexican (themed).

"We do both food and drinks, but evolve into a more DJ-led party later and on Saturdays.

"We have employed, I believe, around 30 people, the vast majoirty of which are from the local area.

"We're obviously focusing on not just the local area (for customers), we want to drive people in from the various suburbs around Watford as well.

"We aim to bring a quality offering to the area."
