Most people know better than to mess with police dogs – and a demo involving a game police and crime commissioner has shown why.

Bedfordshire’s PCC Festus Akinbusoye was recorded running away from a police dog from the Beds, Herts and Cambs Police Dog Unit.

The dog quickly catches him, drags him to the ground and is seen aggressively biting his arm – though thankfully Mr Akinbusoye is wearing a protective layer.

The PCC tweeted a video of the “unexpected workout”, saying: “I have learned a lot today. Police Dogs are worth their weight in gold. PD handlers deserve more credit. It’s always a bad idea to mess with a police dog… always (see video footage). Thank you.”

Recently a police dog helped hunt down a man who had allegedly assaulted a woman in Hunton Bridge, who was eventually found hidden by a river.

The 23-year-old was arrested on suspicion of common assault and domestic abuse offences.
