A BP garage in Hertfordshire was reportedly robbed at gunpoint during the early hours of this morning (November 24).

The gas station in Luton Road, Harpenden, was targeted at around 4am by a man dressed in dark clothing.

He brandished what is believed to have been a gun before demanding cash. 

Detective Sergeant Adam Haines said: “Fortunately the staff were uninjured during the robbery but are understandably very shaken by the threat of violence.

“We are doing extensive enquiries today to find the person responsible, which includes utilising the police helicopter, armed response unit and specially trained dogs. 

“We will also be doing house to house enquiries in the local area to see if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious prior to the robbery.”

Neighbourhood Inspector Andy Wiseman added: “This is a very unusual incident and whilst residents will be rightly concerned, please be reassured that we have a large police presence in Luton Road and we are doing everything we can to track down the offender.”
