A large office in Watford will be given a “contemporary and refreshing” look after plans to refurbish the building were approved.

The proposal for Cassiobury House in Station Road will see a new lease of life given to the “dated” 1970s structure.

Applicant Tellon Capital wants to transform the building into “high quality and improved” office space and has now been given the green light by Watford Borough Council.

Drawings suggest Cassiobury House would be modernised on the outside and reconfigured on the inside, creating nine units and increasing office space to nearly 39,000 square feet.

The work would result in the reduction of car parking from 118 to 99 spaces.

The council welcomed the plans, and in a decision dated November 25, an officer praised the “high quality” and modern design.

No objections were received, which was in contrast to a previous approved scheme that the applicant has since scrapped, which was to demolish Cassiobury House and replace with a 13-storey building of offices and a Premier Inn hotel.
