A huge meteor has been recorded blazing across the sky in Rickmansworth this evening (January 9).

The Met Office said there had been reports of a meteor over the UK at around 8.30pm, before requesting images of it.

Laura Carr tweeted back a stunning video, taken from her house at 8.01pm, saying “it wasn’t just a shooting star, it was orange”.

Another person claimed they saw it north west of Pinner – describing it as “bright green and notable size in the sky (comparable to a low flying jet out of Northolt)”.

A Potters Bar resident wrote: “I heard it hiss as it went through – so bright and with a huge tail. Amazing!”

Check out some other videos of it spotted elsewhere below.
