A meteor was spotted flying over the Isle of Wight on Monday night, according to reports on Facebook.
The Met Office received reports of a "massive orange, red ball of fire" - seen widely over England and Wales - amid social media comments that it crossed over the Island.

The object was described as "much bigger, brighter and longer than a shooting star."
