A man has been arrested after a charity's minibus was stolen overnight.

The vehicle was taken from High Street in Abbots Langley between the evening of Tuesday, January 31, and the following morning.

The local Safer Neighbourhood Team were alerted and the vehicle was tracked and located by Essex Police in Rayleigh last night (February 1).

The minibus was stopped and the driver, a 31-year-old man from Finchley, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, police said. He currently remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing.

The bus was used by a charity to be rented out for local groups in need.

A Herts Police spokesperson said: “The minibus was recovered at the scene and taken to a secure location for the owners to be contacted to arrange collection.

“Great work by our colleagues in Essex! Thank you to all the local community who helped with sharing the information to alert people to keep an eye out.”
