Police have issued an update after fears of a “massive crash” near Leavesden yesterday evening (February 16).

Numerous people reported emergency services at the scene of what appeared to be a serious collision on the A405, near Leavesden Green roundabout, at just after 5pm.

Several passers-by warned of a “major” incident as traffic snarled up along nearby streets – particularly in the Kingswood Estate – to avoid road closures.

However, Herts Police confirmed this morning that the crash was not as serious as many feared.

A spokesperson said: “Police were called at just after 5pm on Thursday 16 February following a road traffic collision on the A405 North Orbital Road in Watford.

“The collision occurred near the junction with Orbital Crescent and involved two vehicles – a Toyota Yaris and a Mercedes AMG.

“Officers attended alongside the ambulance service and road closures were put in place.

“No one was reported to have been seriously injured but one person was taken to hospital as a precaution.

“The vehicles were recovered and the road was cleared by 6.40pm.”
