It's as you were after the Watford Borough Council election with no change to any of the 12 seats up for grabs.

The Liberal Democrat Party has held on to its nine seats, Labour kept held on to Holywell, Leggatts and Vicarage wards, and the Conservatives still have none.

Liberal Democrat Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “I am really pleased with the result. Nine out of 12 seats, it’s a ringing endorsement.

“We work hard. We have got clear priorities for the town, and we are pleased we held our wards in Watford.”

It means Watford Borough Council is still made up of 27 Lib Dems and nine Labour.

After weeks of campaigning, Liberal Democrat Amanda Grimston was honoured and “really happy” to have been chosen as the Meriden ward councillor.

She added: “We have a lot of work to do. We need to get Watford Community Housing to finish the regeneration project.”

Dawn Allen-Williamson secured a second term as the Liberal Democrat councillor for Callowland.

She said: “I thank all the residents who went and voted yesterday. I am really pleased with the result.”

Cllr Williamson also thanked her colleagues and the Mayor for their support.

There are three key areas on the agenda for Cllr Rabi Martins who retained his seat for the ninth time in Watford’s central ward.

The Liberal Democrat Cllr said the first is to make Watford greener by planting around the town.

Supporting local and small businesses will also be on his agenda.

He added: “We also will be trying to get a handle on antisocial behaviour – that worries the residents a lot.”

Nascot ward Cllr Mark Hofman said: “I am looking forward to another four years in Nascot”.

The Liberal democrat councillor added that he will continue to carry on work to improve the roads and make the streets safer as they had previously introduced some 20-mile hour zones.

Jagtar Dhindsa retained the Labour seat in the Vicarage ward. He said: “I want to thank all the residents who showed me support.

“As Cllrs we are supposed to represent everyone. Even the people who have not voted for me, if there are any issues please come to me.”

Labour also held on to the Leggats Ward seat. Asif Khan who won the spot said: “I listened to the residents, and they had a lot of issues around the conditions of the roads. I am going to be there and serve the community as ever.”

Matt Turmaine, who is Labour’s current parliamentary candidate, and a councillor for Holywell, said it was “good news” that there were no seat changes and that “our increase of the share of votes was up”.
