Detailed plans for “affordable” homes have been submitted to build on a site that previously received numerous objections.

Land to the south of Foxgrove Path and Heysham Drive in South Oxhey will be developed to build 53 homes on the plot.

Plans submitted on May 2, have outlined that developers want to build eight one-bedroom flats and 28 two-bedroom houses.

In addition, 15 three-bed and two four-bedroom houses have also been included in the plan, which is a requirement following the outline planning permission that was approved in May 2020.

Developers have decided that every home will be affordable, whereas in May 2020 only 45% fell into this category.

Now, 36 will be shared ownership and 17 will be under an affordable rent scheme.

A total of 116 parking spaces will be provided as well as cycle spaces.

According to the developer, parking bays are 4.8m x 2.4m, which is just below “emerging guidance,” but in accordance with currant standards.

Each house will have a garden and the development will have a central zone of green space that will include a play area.

Consultee comments on the OPP covered a variety of issues.

One concern was that two of the houses seemed isolated, to which the developer confirmed they have now been relocated.

The new plans have yet to be commented on by members of the public, but the first application received 21 objections.

Several people were concerned about nature being damaged by the build.

However, in the new plan, developers have said a five-metre buffer has been included to protect the neighbouring Prestwick Road Meadows Local Nature Reserve.

Residents of Foxgrove Path had complained that they were to lose parking as a result of the build’s entrance.

The developer has said they will be given six parking spaces within the development to make up for the formal and informal spaces that are being lost due to the build.

One person was also concerned about the disruption the build would have on the area.

The new plan’s application number is 23/0699/AOD.
