Residents were left baffled when a lamp post was wrongly installed in the middle of a Watford footpath.
The bizarre error in Phillipers, Meriden, was soon spotted and a picture shared on Facebook this week, with one person asking how someone with a buggy would pass.
Others responded describing it as “madness” and “ridiculous”.
Someone else added: “Even if the old one comes out there is still no room.”
Councillor Steve Cavinder reported the problem to Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) on Monday, June 19.
Cllr Cavinder said: “I thought it was ridiculously located. It is important people are able to use our footpaths safely.
“The thought of a mum with a push chair or an elderly or disabled person having to go into the road fills me with dread.”

HCC did not tell the Watford Observer when the lamppost was installed or when it will be removed.
But a spokesperson said: “This new lamp post was mistakenly installed in an inappropriate location by our contractors.
“They have apologised for this mistake and will be putting it right at their own expense as soon as possible.
“We’d like to apologise to people using this stretch of pavement for any inconvenience this has caused.”
