Residents in a part of Watford were lucky enough to win £1,000 each from the Postcode Lottery in August.

WD25 9SW, which includes roads The Pelhams, Invinghoe Close, and Phillipers, was one of two places in Hertfordshire to get the prize.

Until now residents there had only ever won £10, which happened 12 times, but this time they scooped £1,000 thanks to a Postcode Places Trust draw.

Each month, those who partake pay £12 to have the chance to win up to £30,000.

A number of postcodes are then selected at random to win every day.

A share of £3 million or more is awarded to 'Postcode Millions' winners, while book vouchers and smaller £10, £15 and £20 prizes can also be won.

In July, five Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire postcodes were successful.

Just two Herts areas were successful this time around, whilst another was awarded £1,000 in Bedfordshire.
