A video shows the moment a ULEZ protester allegedly throws an egg at a ULEZ surveillance van before running off.

The protest against the Ultra Low Emission Zone took place at Rickmansworth Road, Northwood, near Northwood Golf Club.

TikToker ‘MattHardyBladerunner’, who posts regular content of ULEZ protests in different parts of London, was recording a live video in Northwood as a hooded man was seen running up to the mobile ULEZ camera van parked on the road.

The voice behind the video could be heard saying: “It don't take a lot, people...

"Is he running up here, he’s not going to run into this van and disappear off is he?”

The hooded figure could be seen throwing something at the windscreen.

The voice continued: “Oh no, he just egged it” … “he’s just egged it all over the windscreen people.”

He added: “It’s set the alarm off by the looks of it” … “what a geezer”.

Archive footage of the incident was shared to the ‘Action Against Unfair ULEZ, CAZ, LTN & 20mph Nonsense’ Facebook group, with commenters cheering on the act.

Since the expansion of ULEZ cameras across the capital, so-called ‘blade runners’ who are against the ULEZ scheme have been cutting down posts and damaging cameras in London.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, who made the decision to expand ULEZ to the whole of London from August 29, previously warned people attacking cameras that “protest should be lawful, safe and peaceful”, adding “it is really important to stay on the right side of the law".

In recent weeks, reports of vandalism to the ULEZ cameras have included cutting of the camera’s wires, painting over the lens, or completely removing the device.

The Metropolitan Police have said that from April 1 to September 30, the force has recorded 795 crimes relating to ULEZ cameras.

This includes 200 reports of cameras being stolen and 595 cameras being damaged.

The Met says it continues to treat criminal activity in relation to ULEZ seriously and has deployed “considerable resources”.

On October 2, the Met said that to date investigations have led to the arrest of two other individuals, one charged and bailed for trial to June 2024 and the other discontinued by the CPS.
