Hello everyone! My name’s Barney and I’m a seven-month-old Staffie cross looking for my forever home. I came to the National Animal Welfare Trust a month ago as I was too big and boisterous for my owners.
My new owner needs to be experienced with large, strong breeds who’ll train me with kind, reward-based methods to walk nicely on a lead and be a respectable member of society instead of the teenage tearaway I am currently! I’m a typical adolescent puppy who needs boundaries and clear instructions on what to do.
I have a lot of energy to burn so I’ll need several walks a day that are focused on my training with a nice runaround at the end as a reward for being a good boy!
I can live with older children who’d be able to help me with my training by teaching me cool tricks and ignoring any puppy-naughtiness! I’d really like to live with another dog as long as we got on during visits to the centre and at a home visit. I play with other dogs very nicely and they’d set a great example of how to behave. I can't live with cats as I’ve tried to chase them before.
I’m not used to being left on my own so I’ll need someone around all the time while I settle in who’ll teach me how to cope being left on my own using slow, kind methods.
I’ve been spending a couple of hours in my crate and settle in there well so having one in my new home would be great! I’ve been doing well with toilet training but may need a refresher when I move in.
If you’re looking for a bouncy boy like me, then apply for me today! Email reception@nawt.org.uk or call 0208 950 0177 (option 2).
