Christmas came early for the children of Watford General Hospital as Father Christmas arrived with sacks of presents.

Santa and his Chief Elf Ann were met by smiles and excitement when they visited the children's Starfish Ward last week.

One patient, young Elsie, made Santa's day when she gave him a hug before he left.

Nurses and doctors were also bestowed with chocolates and sweets during the visit, which was organised by the Watford Rotary Club and West Herts Hospitals Charity.Watford Observer: Nurses from the children's ward pose with Rotarian Karen Grillo (Left), Santa, Chief Elf Ann, and Watford Council Chair Simon Feldman (Right).Nurses from the children's ward pose with Rotarian Karen Grillo (Left), Santa, Chief Elf Ann, and Watford Council Chair Simon Feldman (Right). Emily Theobald, from the West Herts Hospitals Charity, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Watford Rotary for bringing Father Christmas and his Chief Elf to Starfish Ward with gifts for the children.

"It was a highlight for both the children and staff.”

Watford Borough Council chair Simon Feldman and Rotarian Karen Grillo also helped spread the Christmas cheer during the event.
